NSSP CONFERENCE - Portland ME http://adtsea.org/adtsea/NSSP%20Conference%202013.html
We would like to send a student delegation to the NSSP Conference this year. It has been years since we were represented. The last Conference that students from our area attended was in Texas, July of 1986. New York hosted the National Convention in 1985 in Niagara Falls, NY It was funded by the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee. Records show that over 400 attendees were at that Conference from all over the Country.
If you are interested in having any of your students attend this conference please let us know so that we can include you in the planning stages. This is a great opportunity for students at your school to attend a leadership conference that doesn't cost a fortune. . Here's some of the basic information:
Registration Attending the three-day conference is only $250—which includes five meals. (Hotel lodging is not included. We are looking to see what costs are involved in a nearby hotel. ) Go to the NSSP website at www.adtsea.org and download the registration forms, the NSSP Student Handbook and the NSSP Awards Program information. Register early! The first 30 registrants will receive a $50 scholarship (reducing the registration fee) from the National Road Safety Foundation. The deadline is June 1, 2012. Call for Workshops NSSP showcases students and their projects that aim at safety. These include highway safety topics (seat belts, pedestrian, bicycles, impaired driving, distracted driving, speeding, graduated driver’s licensing, etc.) and peer prevention topics (suicide, pregnancies, HIV, drug/alcohol use, eating disorders, conflict resolution, etc.) It is highly desirable that the presentations be interactive on successful projects and activities.
Presenters must be students. The deadline to submit workshop proposals to ADTSEA is March 1, 2012.
